Expansion Block/Orifice Tube: Service and Repair

Special Tool(s):

SPECIAL TOOL(S)

REMOVAL
1. Drain the air conditioning system.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.







3. Remove the right-hand fender splash shield (wheel shown removed for clarity).







4. Using the special tool, disconnect the refrigerant line.
- Discard the O-ring seals.







5. Unclip the refrigerant line.
6. Lower the vehicle.







7. Using the special tool, disconnect the refrigerant line from the evaporator core.
- Discard the O-ring seals.







8. Disconnect the evaporator core orifice connection.
- Discard the O-ring seals.







9. Using the special tool, remove the evaporator core orifice.
- Guide the tool into the tube and hook it into the evaporator core orifice.
- Turn the tool clockwise and pull out the evaporator core orifice.







10. Using the special tools, remove the broken evaporator core orifice.

NOTE: Only necessary if the evaporator core orifice is broken.

INSTALLATION
1. To install reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE:
- Install new refrigerant line O-ring seals.
- Coat the refrigerant line O-ring seals in clean refrigerant oil prior to installation.
