Oil Pressure Test

Check the Oil Pressure

NOTE: Check the oil pressure at the given engine speeds. Carry out the measurement of the oil pressure at a temperature of 80°C.

The oil pressure depends on various factors (engine speed, oil temperature, oil viscosity, degree of contamination of the oil filter).

Check the Oil Pressure (2.0L SPI-Engine)

1. Raise and support the vehicle
2. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector and remove the oil pressure switch.
3. install special tool 303-088 and special tool 307-D003 so that it can be read from above.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
6. Run the engine at 3000 rpm and record the gauge reading.
7. The oil pressure should be within specifications; refer to Specification Chart.
8. If the pressure is not within specification, check the following possible sources:
^ insufficient oil
^ oil leakage
^ worn or damaged oil pump
^ oil pump screen cover and tube
^ excessive main bearing clearance
^ excessive connecting rod bearing clearance.
9. Raise the vehicle.
10. Remove the oil pressure gauge and adaptor.
11. Coat the oil pressure switch with oil pressure switch sealer.
12. Fit the oil pressure switch and connect the oil pressure switch connector.
13. Lower the vehicle.
