Module Communications Network

1. Verify the customer concern.
2. Visually inspect the following for obvious signs of electrical damage.

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Electrical
- Fuse(s)
- Wiring harness
- Loose or corroded connector(s)

3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
^ Check that the program card is correctly installed.
^ Check the connections to the vehicle.
^ Check the ignition switch position.
5. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool operating manual.
6. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test.
If the diagnostic tool responds with:
^ CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70 = ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
^ CKT914 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, GO to Pinpoint Test G. Test G: No Module/Network Communication - ISO 9141 Network
^ CKT915 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, GO to Pinpoint Test G. Test G: No Module/Network Communication - ISO 9141 Network
^ If CKT70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, GO to Pinpoint Test F. Test F: Oil Pressure/Temp. Cluster No Diagnostic Tool Response
^ NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED, refer to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
^ NO RESPONSE ON CKT914 ( BUS+) or NO RESPONSE ON CKT915 (BUS-), refer to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
^ SYSTEM PASSED, refer to the Symptom Chart for the module in question. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
7. If still no response from the diagnostic tool, GO to Pinpoint Test I. Test I: No Module/Network Communication
