Parameter Identification (PIDs)

Air Bag Control Module Parameter Identification (PID) Table:

The PID/Data Monitor and Record option allows the diagnostic tool operator to read the state of several Parameter Identifications (PIDs) to aid in diagnosing the system. PIDs are real time measurements of parameters such as voltages, resistances, etc., calculated by the air bag control module and sent to the scan tool for display. Many of the PIDs supported by the air bag control module are calculated periodically and are, therefore, not true real time readings. The table of supported PIDs expected range and units of measurement is shown.

To retrieve PIDs, follow these steps:
1. Connect the diagnostic tool to the DLC.
2. Turn the ignition switch to position II.
3. Select the MODEL YEAR and VEHICLE.
4. Select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK.
5. Select RCM.
6. Select PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD.
7. Record all PIDs that are to be retrieved, and press START. PIDs are updated continuously on the display.
