REMOVAL
Transaxle





Removal
1. General notes.
- The position markings for the engine mountings and engine roll restrictors are
- described looking from the transaxle towards the engine.
- If necessary, cut cable ties and install new when installing the assembly.

2. CAUTION: Disconnect the battery ground lead.

Remove battery.





3. Remove battery tray.
1. Unclip and separate connector.
2. Remove the bolts.
3. Unclip the wiring loom.





4. NOTE: Use an Allen key to prevent the piston rod from rotating

Loosen the left-hand and the right-hand suspension strut nut five turns.





5. Remove the air cleaner
1 Disconnect the plug of the MAP sensor
2 Detach the intake pipe





6. Remove the intake pipe





7. WARNING: Escaping brake fluid. Do not allow brake fluid to come into contact with the skin or the eyes. If brake fluid does come into contact with the skin or the eyes, rinse the affected areas with water immediately. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

CAUTION: If brake fluid is split on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.

Remove the high-pressure line from the clutch slave cylinder
- Pull the clutch slave cylinder high-pressure line out of the bracket





8. Disconnect the brake servo vacuum hose





9. Disconnect the vacuum hoses.





10. Disconnect the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) connector.





11. Disconnect the reversing light switch connector.





12. Install the special tools.





13. Remove the rear engine mounting.





14. Remove the rear engine mounting bracket.
15. Using the special tools 303-290, lower the engine/transaxle compartment.
16. Raise the vehicle.





17. Open the cover on the shift and selector cable.





18. Remove the shift and selector cable.
- Remove the shift and selector cable end fittings from the shift and selector lever.
- Remove the shift and selector cable from the bracket by turning the lower part of abutment clockwise and the upper part counter clockwise.





19. Remove the lower suspension arm ball joints on both sides (right-hand side shown left-hand side similar).





20. Remove mounting bracket from right-hand front halfshaft intermediate bearing.





21. CAUTION: The inner joint must not bend more than 18 degrees, the outer joint more than 45 degrees.

Remove the right-hand front halfshaft from the transaxle and secure it.





22. CAUTION: The inner joint must not bend more than 18 degrees, the outer joint more than 45 degrees.

Remove the left-hand front halfshaft from the transaxle and secure it.





23. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe and detach it from the rubber insulators.





24. Remove the roll restrictor.
25. Using the special tools 303-290, lower the engine/transaxle as far as possible.





26. Remove the drive belt cover.





27. Remove lower flange bolts.





28. Tilt engine/transaxle forwards and support using wooden block (approximately 300 mm long).





29. Undo flange bolt and push starter motor to one side.

30. Secure transaxle with retaining strap and support using transmission jack.





31. NOTE: Support transaxle using transmission jack.

Remove four flange bolts.
32. Lower the transaxle using the transmission jack.
