A/T - 700R4 Erratic/Late Shifts As Unit Gets Hot
TSB 85-14SUBJECT: 70-R4
COMPLAINT:
Erratic and late shifts as the unit gets hot. The 3-4 gets later, and then the 2-3, and possible second gear starts.
CAUSE:
The cause may be a cracked case the length of the governor bore (see below)
CORRECTION:
First, determine if the problem is high TV pressure, or a governor pressure problem. High TV is indicated by high line pressure readings. If the line pressure is OK, then the problem is governor. Since the crack may not be visible when cold, the case will have to be heated to see the crack. To correct this problem, the case will have to be replaced using the sleeve for the 350 case WILL NOT correct, or prevent the problem.
