Assembly
1. Support front half of cylinder assembly on compressing fixture.
2. Install shaft and axial plate with threaded end down and front bearing race pack (zero race and numbered bearing race) installed.
3. Apply a light coat of petroleum jelly onto ``numbered'' shoe discs selected during gauging procedure and install all ball and shoe discs in their proper place on piston assembly.

4. Rotate axial plate until highest point is above No. 1 cylinder bore, then carefully assemble No. 1 piston, complete with ball and zero shoe disc on front, and ball and numbered shoe disc on rear over axial plate. Hold front thrust bearing pack tightly against axial plate hub while lifting hub, and insert piston assembly into front cylinder half, Fig. 41.
5. Repeat above operation for remaining cylinders.

6. Without using any O-rings or bushings, assemble one end of new discharge cross-over tube into hole in front cylinder half, Figs. 43 and 44, ensuring flattened section of tube faces inside of compressor to allow for axial clearance.
7. Rotate shaft to position pistons in a ``stair-step'' arrangement, then carefully place rear cylinder half over shaft and start pistons into cylinder bores.
8. When all three piston and ring assemblies are in their cylinders, align end of cross-over tube with hole in rear half of cylinder.
9. When all parts are properly aligned, seat rear half of cylinder over locating dowel pins by tapping with a wood block and mallet. If necessary, clamp cylinder in compressing fixture to complete drawing cylinder halves together.
10. Lubricate all moving parts with clean refrigerant oil and check for free rotation of all parts.
11. Install suction cross-over cover until flush at both ends.
