1. Load double row of roller bearings and thrust washers into each end of countergear. Use heavy grease to hold them in place.

2. Place counter gear in case and install countergear shaft and woodruff key from rear of case.

NOTE: Be sure countershaft picks up both thrust washers and that the tangs are aligned in the notches in the case.

3. Position reverse idler in case.

4. Expand snap ring in extension housing and assemble mainshaft and extension.

5. Load rollers into clutch gear bore and assemble 3rd gear blocker ring onto gear with clutching teeth toward gear.

6. Install clutch gear assembly onto

mainshaft. Do not install bearing over gear stem as yet.


NOTE: Be sure notches in blocker ring align with keys in the synchronizer assembly.


7. Place gasket on rear of case, and assemble the entire mainshaft-extension to the case as a unit.

NOTE: Be sure clutch gear engages the teeth of the countergear anti-lash plate and that the oil slinger is in place on the clutch gear.

8. Rotate extension and install reverse idler shaft and Woodruff key. Install extension-to-case bolts.

9. With large snap ring on bearing, install clutch gear bearing onto stem of gear and into case bore. Install small snap ring.

10. Install clutch gear bearing retainer with oil return hole at bottom.

11. Install side cover.
