A/T - 700R4 Passing Gear Spin-Up/Engine Revs Up

Subject: 700 R4

COMPLAINT:

Passing gear spin-up -- 4-3 or 4-2. The engine revs up as if the transmission was in neutral; then the transmission engages with an extremely abrupt slam; at other times the vehicle may have to come to a complete stop for sprag re-engagement. The unit works fine until you go for passing gear.

SOLUTION:




Change the tooth type sprag; change or sandpaper (lightly) both sprag races.
