Output Carrier Assembly/Pinion Gear
Replacement
1. Using 1/2 inch drill bit, remove stake marks from pinion pins. Do not allow drill bit to remove stock from carrier.
2. Remove pinion pins from carrier.
3. Remove pinion gears, thrust washers and roller needle bearings.
4. Inspect pinion pocket thrust faces for burring.
5. Inspect output carrier for cracks, damage or wear.
6. install needle bearings in pinion gears.
7. Install bronze and steel thrust washers on both sides of pinion gears with steel washers next to pinion gears.
8. Install pinion gear assemblies into carriers.
9. Install pinion pins, ensuring headed end of pins are flush with carrier face.
10. Using suitable tool, stake pins at three points, ensuring pins do not extend beyond carrier surface.
