Front Vacuum Break

Fig. 9 Front vacuum break adjustment:

Do not remove rivets or choke cover to place choke valve in the closed position. Use a rubber band on vacuum break lever tang to hold choke valve in the closed position.
1. Attach rubber band to green tang of intermediate choke shaft, then open throttle lever to allow choke valve to close.
2. Position magnet on top of choke valve, then rotate degree scale until zero is opposite pointer.
3. Center leveling bubble, then rotate degree scale until specified adjustment angle is opposite pointer.
4. Seat vacuum break plunger using external vacuum source of at least 18 inches Hg vacuum. On some models, it will be necessary to plug air bleed with a piece of masking tape.
5. With vacuum still applied, rotate adjustment screw until bubble is centered, Fig. 9. On units equipped with bucking spring, spring must be seated against lever before adjusting screw. Also, the air valve rod must not restrict the vacuum plunger from retracting fully. If necessary, bend rod at arrow, Fig. 9, to permit full plunger travel.
