September, 1985
Subject: PRODUCT EMISSION CAMPAIGN 84C26
EGR/EPR SOLENOID ASSEMBLY MAY FAIL
Model and Year: 1984 C/K/G 10-20 MODEL TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH 6.2L LIGHT DUTY EMISSION
DIESEL ENGINE (RPO LH6) AND CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS (RPO YF5)
TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
General Motors has determined that some 1984 C/K/G 10-20 Model Trucks equipped with a 6.2L Light Duty Emission Diesel Engine (RPO LH6) and California Emissions (RPO YF5) may emit pollutants in excess of Federal Emissions Standards.
The adhesive used to assemble the rubber vacuum manifold halves of the EGR/EPR Solenoid Assembly may deteriorate and result in vacuum leaks. Vacuum leakage renders the EGR/EPR solenoids inoperative, which may result in failure to meet NOx emission standards.

Involved are certain 1984 C/K/G 10-20 Model Trucks equipped with a 6.2L Light Duty Emission Diesel Engine (RPO LH6) and California Emissions (RPO YF5), built within the following breakpoints:

(Notification Used By Chevrolet Motor Division)
Dear Chevrolet Owner:
General Motors has determined that some 1984 C/K/G 10-20 Model Trucks equipped with a 6.2L Diesel Engine and California Emissions may emit pollutants in excess of emissions standards.
The adhesive used to assemble the rubber vacuum manifold halves of the EGR/EPR Solenoid Assembly may deteriorate and result in vacuum leaks. Vacuum leakage can render the EGR/EPR solenoids inoperative, which may result in failure to meet Nox emission standards.
To bring your vehicle into compliance with applicable emissions requirements, please contact your Chevrolet dealer to arrange a service date. Your dealer will install a new EGR/EPR solenoid assembly for you at no charge.
Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your Chevrolet
Dealer. Parts will be available on October 7, 1985. The labor time
required to install the new EGR/EPR solenoid varies between 15 and 30
minutes. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much additional
time will be needed to process your vehicle.
The enclosed owner reply card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist him in making the inspection to your vehicle in the shortest possible time. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage paid Owner Identification Reply Card and returning it to us. Should your dealer not schedule a service date within a reasonable time, you should contact your nearest Chevrolet Zone Office either in person or by telephone for assistance. The locations and telephone numbers of the Zone Offices have been attached for your convenience.
To ensure your full protection under the emission warranty made applicable to your vehicle by Federal Law, and your right to participate in future recalls, it is recommended that you have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible. Failure to do so could legally be determined to be a lack of proper maintenance of your vehicle.
We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our product.
