Removal and Installation

TRANSMISSION
Refer to the Transfer Case for the removal of the transfer case, shift lever, and linkage adjustment. Please refer to Transfer Case






Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2. Remove shift lever boot attaching screws and slide boot up shift lever.
3. Remove shift lever from transmission.
4. Raise vehicle.
5. Remove prop shaft as outlined in Prop Shaft. Please refer toDrive/Propeller Shafts, Bearings and Joints
6. Disconnect speedometer cable and electrical connector at transmission.
7. Disconnect slave cylinder from the transmission.
8. Support transmission and remove transmission mount attaching bolts.
9. Remove catalytic converter hanger.
10. Remove crossmember attaching bolts and crossmember.
11. Remove dust cover bolts.
12. Remove transmission to engine attaching bolts and remove transmission. Inspection of clutch components should be made after transmission removal. If the clutch requires repair, refer to Clutch before transmission is reinstalled. Please refer to Clutch
13. For installation, reverse removal procedures.
