Endplay Check

FRONT ENDPLAY CHECK
1. Remove oil pump bolt and washer at 10 o'clock position and install tool J-6125 or equivalent.

2. Attach tool J-8001 or equivalent.

3. Eliminate slack by pressing turbine shaft to rear and the output shaft forward.

4. Index J-8001 against end of turbine shaft and set dial to zero.

5. Pull out on turbine shaft and note measurement Endplay should be 0.003-0.024 inch.

6. Select correct washer and remove tools. Front end play check must be repeated during assembly of transmission to verify accuracy.







REAR UNIT ENDPLAY CHECK
1. Attach tool J-21797 or equivalent to one of the bolt holes at end of transmission case.

2. Mount dial gage on bolt and index it to end of output shaft, setting indicator to zero.

3. Move output shaft in and out, noting amount for endplay. Endplay should be 0.007 - 0.019 inch. Select replacement selective thrust washer. Rear endplay check must be repeated during transmission assembly to verify accuracy.
