1. Disconnect and remove vacuum hose to choke vacuum break capsule.
2. Remove 2 float bowl cover (air horn) retaining screws securing vacuum break capsule and the capsule, Figs. 1 and 2.
3. Remove screws securing fast idle cam and choke upper lever, then the cam, rod and lever assembly.
4. Remove 3 screws or rivets, then the retainers and electric choke coil from choke housing.
5. Remove screw securing choke coil lever and lever from shaft, then withdraw shaft and outside lever assembly from housing.
6. Remove 3 screws securing choke coil housing and the housing, noting position of screws for assembly. Choke coil housing need not be removed unless replacement is required.
7. Remove 4 remaining air horn retaining screws, the air horn and air horn gasket, noting position of screws for assembly.
8. If choke blade and/or shaft removal is necessary proceed as follows:
a. File staking from ends of choke blade retaining screws, then remove screws.
b. Remove choke blade from slot in shaft, then withdraw shaft from air horn.
9. Lift float and needle valve assembly from float bowl, remove hinge pin, then slide needle valve and pull clip from float arm.
10. Remove screw securing accelerator pump/power piston lever to throttle shaft, then disconnect lever from shaft.
11. Hold down on power piston, disconnect piston actuating link from piston rod, then remove power piston, metering rod and actuator rod assembly and the piston return spring from float bowl.
12. Hold down on accelerator pump, align tang on pump link with slot in pump rod, then remove actuating link along with throttle shaft lever and power piston link.
13. Remove accelerator pump lever, pump plunger and return spring from float bowl.
14. Remove T-retainer using suitable pliers, then the accelerator pump check ball spring.
15. Carefully invert float bowl and remove accelerator pump check ball and idle tube.
16. Remove float needle seat and gasket, main jet, idle stop solenoid, fuel nut, filter and fuel filter spring.
17. Invert float bowl, then remove throttle body retaining screws throttle body and gasket.
18. Rotate idle mixture adjusting screw clockwise, counting the number of turns required to lightly seat screw, then remove mixture adjusting screw and spring from throttle body.
