Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Mechanical: Description and Operation

The Throttle Lever Actuator (Throttle Kicker) is controlled by the ECM and is manifold vacuum operated. However, the following conditions must be met before the throttle kicker will be activated or extended.

^ Coolant temperature below 85~C (185~F)

^ Will extend for 30 seconds after engine start-up if coolant temperature is above 85~C (185~F).

^ If the steering wheel is fully turned and power steering switch is closed, this will cause throttle kicker solenoid to energize and raise idle speed.
