Refer to Fig. 4 during disassembly procedures.

1. Remove turbine shaft O-ring seal, then the oil pump attaching bolts and washers.

2. Install oil pump remover tool, No. J-24773-A, on oil pump assembly, Fig. 19.
3. Remove oil pump to case seal gasket, then the reverse input clutch to oil pump thrust washer.
4. Remove reverse input clutch and input clutch, by lifting turbine shaft.
5. Remove 2-4 band assembly, band anchor pin and input sun gear.

6. Install output shaft support fixture tool No. J-29837 as shown in Fig. 20. Output shaft may fall free when input carrier retaining ring is removed if tool No. J-29837 is not used.
7. Remove input carrier to output shaft retaining ring using suitable tool. Do not reuse input carrier to output shaft retaining ring. This ring can be overexpanded during removal, and if reused in this condition it may dislodge during vehicle operation.
8. Remove input carrier assembly and thrust washer.
9. Remove output shaft support fixture tool, No. J-29837, then the output shaft and thrust bearing assembly.
10. Remove input internal gear and reaction carrier, then the reaction sun shell and thrust washer.
11. Remove reaction sun shell to inner race thrust washer.
12. Remove lo and reverse support to case retainer ring and lo and reverse clutch support retainer spring.
13. Remove reaction sun gear.
14. Remove lo and reverse inner race, roller assembly, support assembly and reaction carrier assembly.
15. Remove lo and reverse clutch plates, then the reaction internal gear and thrust bearing assembly.
16. Remove reaction gear support to case bearing.

17. Remove parking lock bracket attaching bolts and bracket, Fig. 21.
18. Remove parking pawl shaft plug using suitable tool, then the parking pawl pivot shaft using a suitable magnet.
19. Remove parking pawl and return spring, then install clutch spring compressor tool No. J-23327.
20. Remove lo and reverse clutch retainer ring and spring assembly.

21. Remove lo and reverse clutch piston by applying compressed air to case passage as shown in Fig. 22.
