Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Defect Involved

General Motors has determined that certain 1986 S/T Light Duty model trucks built at Moraine Truck Assembly do not conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 120, "Tire Selection and Rims for Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars". The trucks were assembled correctly except that the tire and wheel information on the certification label may be incorrect. Specifically, all of the 5's were changed to 6's (ie. P195/75R14 read P196/76R14 and 15 x 6JJ read 16 x 6JJ). To correct this condition, a new certification label is to be affixed to each affected vehicle. Since a new certification label can be easily installed and to reduce owner inconvenience, new certification labels will be sent diredly to owners of
record. Owners may install the new label or ask a dealer to do the service. Dealer service is to be done at no charge to owners.

VEHICLES INVOLVED Involved are certain 1986 S/T Light Duty model trucks built at Moraine within the following VIN breakpoints:

Moraine 1986 G2500001 G2501892
