Clutch Replace

1. Remove slave cylinder mounting bolts and position cylinder aside.

2. Remove transmission assembly as outlined under "Transmission, Replace."

3. On models equipped with 4 speed (77mm) or 5 speed, remove bell housing. On models equipped with 4 speed (77mm) or 5 speed, it may be necessary to remove left body mounting bolts, loosen radiator support bolt and raise the cab to gain access to upper bell housing mounting bolts. After cab is raised, a suitable block of wood should be installed between frame and cab for support.

4. Slide clutch fork from ball stud and remove fork from dust boot

5. Install tool J-331169 for 4-121, 151 and V6-173 engines or tool J-33034 for 4-119 and 4-137 engines to support clutch assembly. Look for "X" mark on flywheel and on clutch cover or white painted letter on clutch cover. If marks are not evident, mark flywheel and clutch cover for proper alignment during assembly.

6. Loosen clutch-to-flywheel attachin9 bolts evenly, one turn at a time, until spring pressure is released. Then re move bolts, clutch and pressure plate assembly.

7. Clean pressure plate and flywheel mating surfaces and inspect flywheel for defects. Replace or repair as needed.

8. Reverse procedure to install.
