Oil Charge
R-4 COMPRESSORWith no excessive oil leakage
^ Compressor - Remove, drain oil, measure and replace the same amount of new oil plus 30 ml (1 fl oz).
^ Evaporator - Add 90 ml (3 fl oz).
^ Condenser - Add 30 ml (1 fl oz).
^ Accumulator - Remove, drain oil, measure, replace the same amount of new oil plus 60 ml (2 fl oz) to compensate for that retained by the original accumulator desiccant.
With signs of excessive oil leakage
^ Accumulator - Remove, drain, measure and record the quantity of oil in the accumulator. It is not necessary to remove and drain the compressor because it retains a minimum quantity of oil.
- If less than 90 ml (3 fl oz), add 90 ml (3 fl oz) of new oil to the system.
- If more than 90 ml (3 fl oz), add the same amount of new oil as drained.
- If a new accumulator is installed, add 60 ml (2 fl oz) of additional oil to compensate for that retained by the original accumulator desiccant.
DA-6 COMPRESSOR
With no excessive oil leakage
^ Compressor - Remove, drain oil, measure and replace the same amount of new oil plus 30 ml (1 fl oz).
^ Evaporator - Add 90 ml (3 fl oz).
^ Condenser - Add 30 ml (1 fl oz).
^ Accumulator - Remove, drain oil, measure, replace the same amount of new oil plus 60 ml (2 fl oz) to compensate for the retained by the original accumulator desiccant.
With signs of excessive oil leakage
^ Accumulator - Drain, measure and record the quantity of oil in the accumulator. Do not remove the compressor because it retains only a minimum quantity of oil. The DA-6 compressor does not have an oil sump area.
- If less than 90 ml (3 fl oz), add 90 ml (3 fl oz) of new oil.
- If more than 90 ml (3 fl oz), add the same amount of new oil as drained.
- If a new accumulator is installed, add 90 ml (3 fl oz) of additional oil to compensate for that absorbed by the original accumulator dessicant.
