A/T - 700R4 Snap Ring Jumps Out of Place
TSB 86-29 (June)SUBJECT: 700 R4
COMPLAINT:
Reverse clutch retainer snap ring jumps out of place after rebuild.
CAUSE:
Retaining snap rings crossed during rebuild between the reverse input clutch and lo-reverse clutch. The size of these two rings is close enough that positive identification cannot be made visually by looking at O.D. only.
SOLUTION:
Check the thickness of the two snap rings. The reverse input clutch snap ring is .063" thick. The lo-reverse clutch snap ring is .054" thick.
