Fig. 8 Upper Control Arm Replacement:
1. Remove retaining nuts and shims, Fig. 3. Note location of shims for assembly reference.
2. Raise vehicle and support lower control arm with suitable jack stands. Jack must be positioned between coil spring seat and ball joint of lower control arm to obtain maximum leverage against coil spring pressure.
3. Remove front wheel, then loosen upper ball joint from steering knuckle as described under ``Upper Ball Joint, Replace.''
4. Support hub assembly to prevent damage to brake line when removing control arm.
5. Remove control arm attaching bolts and the control arm, Fig. 3.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Torque control arm retaining nuts to 66 ft. lbs.
