The front axles on these vehicles, Figs. 1 and 2, are hypoid gear units equipped with steering knuckles retained by either ball joints (K10---20/1500---2500) or king pins (K30/3500). The axle shafts drive the front wheels through yoke and trunnion type universal joints.
