V6 ENGINES
C, K, R & V Models
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove accessory drive belts, then the fan and water pump pulley.
4. Disconnect all hoses from engine.
5. If equipped with automatic transmission, disconnect cooling lines from radiator.
6. Remove radiator and fan shroud.
7. Disconnect accelerator linkage and detent cable (automatic transmission models) from carburetor or TBI unit.
8. If equipped with A/C, remove A/C compressor from mounting bracket and position aside. Do not disconnect lines from compressor.
9. Remove power steering pump, if equipped, and position aside.
10. Disconnect wiring harness from engine, then the fuel line from fuel pump.
11. Disconnect vacuum lines from intake manifold, then raise and support vehicle.
12. Drain crankcase, then disconnect exhaust pipes from exhaust manifolds.
13. On K and V models with automatic transmission, remove strut rods from motor mounts.
14. Remove flywheel or converter splash shield, then disconnect wiring along right pan rail.
15. Disconnect starter wiring and remove starter.
16. Disconnect wiring from gas gauge.
17. If equipped with automatic transmission, remove converter to flex plate attaching bolts.
18. Support transmission with a suitable transmission jack, then remove bellhousing to engine attaching bolts.
19. Remove lower engine mount bracket to frame attaching bolts, then lower vehicle.
20. Remove hood.
21. Attach a suitable engine lifting device and remove engine from vehicle.
22. Reverse procedure to install.
