SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Inspect power steering pump brace. If vehicle is equipped with a new design brace (see Figure No. 1A and Figure No. 2), no further service is required, proceed to step 9. If vehicle is equipped with original design brace, proceed with steps below.

2. Remove two (2) nuts from power steering pump brace, see Figure No. 1A, and remove brace.

3. Remove lower forward exhaust manifold attaching bolt and replace with stud P/N 10065558, see Figure No. 1B.

4. Torque stud to 34 N-m (25 ft.lbs.), see Figure No. 2.
5. Inspect power steering pump mounting bracket. If bracket is cracked or broken, it must be replaced. Reference 1987 S/T Service Manual (ST-369-87) Section 3B3 for power steering pump mounting bracket replacement.
6. Attach new power steering pump brace on power steering pump and manifold studs. Install nuts on pump and manifold studs and HAND TIGHTEN ONLY.
7. Torque nut on rear of power steering pump to 45 N-M (33 ft.lbs.).
IT IS NECESSARY TO TORQUE NUT ON REAR OF POWER STEERING PUMP FIRST TO CORRECTLY POSITION BRACE. AFTER THIS HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED, TORQUE REMAINING TWO (2) NUTS TO 2.8 N-M (20 FT.LBS.).

8. Retorque lower power steering pump bracket to water pump bolt to 40 N-m (29 ft.lbs.), see Figure No. 2.
9. Install Campaign Identification Label.
CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION LABEL
Each vehicle corrected in accordance with the instructions outlined in this Product Campaign Bulletin will require a "Campaign Identification Label". Each label provides a space to include the five (5) digit dealer code of the dealer performing the campaign service. This information may be inserted with a typewriter or ballpoint pen.
Each "Campaign Identification Label" is to be located on the radiator core support in an area which will be visible when the vehicle is brought in for periodic servicing by the owner.
Apply "Campaign Identification Label" only on a clean dry surface.
CLAIM INFORMATION
Submit a Product Campaign Claim with the information indicated below:
* Campaign Administrative Allowance
** The "Parts Allowance" should be the sum total of the current GMSPO Dealer Net price plus 30% of all parts required for the repair.
Dealers will automatically receive the correct labor and material allowance based an the labor operation performed.
