Cleaning & Inspection

1. The following components should not be placed in carburetor cleaner:
a. Rubber and plastic parts such as diaphragms, bushings and accelerator pump plunger. The plastic return spring bushing in the throttle lever may be immersed in most types of carburetor cleaner, as the bushing is ``spun-in'' and not serviced separately. However, if the bushing is damaged, the throttle lever should be replaced.
b. Electrical components such as choke coil and idle stop solenoid.
c. Fuel filters.
2. Thoroughly clean all components. Ensure that fuel passages are clear and free from contaminants, and that metering rods are not burred. Do not pass drills or wires through jets or other calibrated orifices.
3. Inspect upper and lower castings and throttle body for damage, wear and distortion.
4. Inspect all components for damage, burrs, wear, binding and distortion.
5. Replace any components found defective.
