1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold, then remove flywheel dust shield.
3. Remove torque converter to flywheel bolts, disconnect cooling lines from transmission, then plug lines and open fittings.
4. Loosen right motor mount through bolt, and remove left through bolt and bolts securing transmission to engine.
5. Disconnect C3 harness connectors from transmission and electrical connector from knock sensor.
6. Disconnect fuel hoses at frame.
7. Remove lower fan shroud.
8. Remove starter motor, then lower vehicle.
9. Disconnect ECM harness connectors from engine mounted connectors, and all other necessary electrical connectors and vacuum hoses, noting position for installation.
10. Remove air cleaner assembly and the upper fan shroud.
11. Disconnect accelerator and throttle valve cables.
12. Drain cooling system, then disconnect radiator and heater hoses.
13. Disconnect necessary electrical connectors, remove A/C compressor and power steering pump mounting bolts, then secure pump and compressor aside.
14. Disconnect and plug transmission cooling lines.
15. Remove fan and pulleys.
16. Disconnect hood lamp electrical connector, mark position of hood hinges and remove hood.
17. Disconnect battery cables from frame and ground straps from rear of each cylinder head.
18. Disconnect AIR converter pipe from manifold and AIR hose from converter pipe.
19. Attach suitable lifting equipment to engine, support transmission and remove engine.
20. Reverse procedure to install.
