Drive Axle Replacement

FRONT DRIVE AXLE






Remove or Disconnect

^ Raise the vehicle. Support with suitable safety stands.

1. Skid plate (if equipped).

2. Stabilizer bar components, as follows.

- Left drive axle removal:
^ Left stabilizer bar clamp.
^ Left stabilizer bar bolt, spacer, and bushings at the lower control arm.
^ Left inner tie rod end from steering relay rod.

- Right drive axle removal:
^ Right stabilizer bar clamp.
^ Right stabilizer bar bolt, spacer, and bushings at the lower control arm.
^ Right inner tie rod end from steering relay rod.

3. Hub nut (203), and washer (202). Insert a long drift through the vanes in the brake rotor to hold the rotor in place.

4. Drive axle flange bolts (200).

5. Drive axle (201). Use a suitable puller or a brass drift to push the outboard axle end out of the hub assembly.

CAUTION: Do not allow the vehicle's weight to load the front wheels, or attempt to operate the vehicle, when the drive axle(s) or hub nut(s) are removed. To do so may cause the front wheel bearing inner races to separate, resulting in damage to front brake and suspension components and/or personal injury.

Install or Connect

1. Drive axle to the vehicle.

2. Hub nut (203) and washer (202).
^ Insert a drift through the vanes in the brake rotor.

Tighten
^ Nut (202) to 235 Nm (175 lb ft).

3. Drive axle flange bolts (200).

Tighten
^ Bolts (200) to 80 Nm (59 lb ft).

^ Remove the drift from the brake rotor.

4. Stabilizer bar components, as necessary.

5. Skid plate (if equipped).
