Disassemble

1. Remove drum retaining ring, then ring gear retainer rings an ring gear.

2. Remove clutch plates. clutch plates are not being replaced, they must be reinstalled in original positions.

3. Remove thrust washer.

4. Install spring compressor tool No. J 23327 or equivalent and compress piston return springs.

5. Remove snap ring, tool No. J 23327, spring seat, springs and piston. Do allow spring seat to catch in ring groove.

6. Remove seals from piston and drum, if equipped.
