Front Driving Axle Assembly Replacement
Front Driving Axle Components:
Axle Shaft Assembly:
FRONT DRIVING AXLE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT
NOTICE: All front axle fasteners are important attaching parts in that they could affect the performance of vital parts and systems, and/or could result in major repair expense. They must be replaced with one of the same part number or with an equivalent part if replacement becomes necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to assure proper retention of all parts.
Removal
NOTE: Raise the vehicle until the weight is removed from the front springs. Support the vehicle with jack stands placed behind the front springs.
1. Remove propeller shaft.
2. Disconnect connecting rod from the steering arm.
3. Remove brake caliper (40).
- Support the brake caliper (40) so as not to stretch or damage the brake hose.
4. Disconnect shock absorbers from the axle brackets.
5. Remove front stabilizer bar.
Axle Vent Hose Routing:
6. Remove axle vent hose and clips.
7. Remove nuts, washers, U-bolts, spacers and plates.
- Support the axle with a jack. Remove axle assembly out from under the vehicle.
8. Clean and inspect the axle assembly and repair or replace as necessary.
Installation
NOTE: Place axle assembly positioned under the vehicle.
1. Install Plates, spacers, U-bolts, washers and nuts.
Axle Vent Hose Routing:
2. Install Axle vent hose and clips.
3. Install Front stabilizer bar.
4. Connect Shock absorbers to the axle brackets.
5. Install Brake caliper (40).
6. Connect Connecting rod to the steering arm
7. Install Propeller shaft.
8. Lower the vehicle.
