Full Floating Axle

Backing Plate:






REMOVE
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove brake drum. See Brake Drum / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
4. Remove brake shoes. See Brake Shoes / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
5. Disconnect hydraulic line at wheel cylinder.

CAUTION: Do not pull metal line away from cylinder, as this may kink or bend line. Line will separate from cylinder when cylinder is moved away from brake backing plate.

6. Remove wheel cylinder-to-brake plate attaching screws, then the wheel cylinder.
7. Remove the four backing plate attaching bolts then remove the backing plate.

INSTALL
1. Install backing plate and retaining bolts. Torque bolts to specifications.
2. Install wheel cylinder. See Wheel Cylinder / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
3. Install brake shoes. See Brake Shoes / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
4. Install brake drum. See Brake Drum / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
5. Install wheel and tire assembly.
6. Lower vehicle.
