MODELS: 1989 S/T TRUCKS WITH CRUISE CONTROL

Figure 1:

Some vehicles may experience a condition of light brake drag while driving. These conditions have been found to be more noticeable on vehicles which have cruise control. This may be caused by improper cruise control switch clip retention. If the cruise switch is not retained properly, the switch may push on the brake pedal and cause the brake to reman partially applied (see figure 1). If a vehicle exhibits any of the above conditions, perform the following functional cruise switch adjustment check:
Service Procedure:

1. Depress the brake pedal and press the cruise control switch in until it is firmly seated in the clip.

*Audible "clicks" can be heard as the threaded portion of the switch is pushed through the clip.

2. Pull the brake pedal against the pedal stop until the audible "click" can no longer be heard.
