SUBJECT: FRONT SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES DAMAGES DOOR TRIM PANEL

MODELS: 1988 - 1989 M Vans
Some of the subject M vans may experience a seat belt fouling condition on the door openings causing damage to the door trim panel and/or door opening when closing the door.
This condition, if experienced, may be corrected by replacing the seat belt assembly. The revised seat belt assembly has a modified shoulder belt stop location. The new seat belt assembly was released as standard equipment effective in production April 3, 1989. A seat belt assembly with this new feature can be installed by ordering:

* These parts used on vehicles equipped with RPO TR9-Lamp Group. (TR9 has a light in the plastic shroud.)
The shoulder belt stop location dimension from the latch plate has been lengthened approximately 3-1/2" from the original dimension of 48.3". Prior to installation, check the new seat belt assembly for this modified belt stop location.
