Clutch: Service and Repair
Fig. 1 Engine Mount Replacement:
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove transmission, refer to TRANSMISSION.
4. Remove secondary slave cylinder.
5. Remove flywheel housing cover attaching screws, then the flywheel housing cover, Fig. 1.
6. Remove flywheel housing attaching screws, then the flywheel housing.
7. Remove boot, then pry clutch fork off ball stud. Pry retainer from clutch fork, if worn or damaged.
8. Remove release bearing, then the ball stud, if worn or damaged.
9. Install clutch alignment tool J-33169 or equivalent to support clutch assembly.
10. Place alignment marks on flywheel, clutch cover and pressure plate lug.
11. Remove pressure plate attaching screws and lock washers. Loosen each screw one turn at a time to prevent damaging clutch cover.
12. Remove clutch cover assembly and driven plate, then the clutch alignment tool.
13. Remove pilot bearing using pilot bearing puller J-1448, as required.
14. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten bellhousing bolts to specifications.
