Engine: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Mark hood hinge locations, then remove hood.
3. Drain cooling system.
4. Remove air cleaner.
5. Remove accessory drive belt, fan and water pump pulley.
6. Remove radiator and shroud.
7. Disconnect heater hoses from engine.
8. Disconnect accelerator cruise control and detent linkage, if equipped.
9. Loosen air conditioning compressor and position aside, if equipped.
10. Remove power steering pump and position aside, if equipped.
11. Disconnect engine wiring harness from engine.
12. Disconnect and cap fuel line.
13. Label, then disconnect vacuum lines from intake manifold.
14. Raise and support vehicle.
15. Drain oil from engine.
16. Disconnect front exhaust pipes from exhaust manifolds.
17. Remove strut rods from engine mounts, if equipped.
18. Remove flywheel, or torque converter cover.
19. Disconnect engine wiring attaching brackets from oil pan rail.
20. On automatic transmission models, remove converter to flex plate attaching bolts.
21. On all models, lower vehicle and support transmission assembly.
22. Install engine lifting equipment onto engine.
23. Remove bellhousing to engine attaching bolts.
24. Remove engine mount to frame attaching bolts.
25. Remove engine from vehicle.
26. Reverse procedure to install.
