SERVICE PROCEDURE
A. INSPECTION
1. Open hood of K 1-2 vehicle to be inspected.
2. Observe both right and left splash shields of vehicle from the engine compartment and from the wheelhouse opening.
3. Compare the general shape of the splash shield to the illustration marked (Figure 1 - correct shield). Also note if the splash shield is resting against the brake lines.
4. If the general shape of the splash shield DOES NOT agree with Figure 1, then the splash shield will have to be replaced with the correct part number shield. For shield replacement continue to Section B, Replacement of Splash Shield and Brake Hose.
NOTICE: For reference only, Figure 2 shows the outline of the incorrect splash shield. This shield should be replaced with the correct shield. If general shape of splash shield DOES agree with Figure 1, no further action is necessary. Install "Campaign Identification Label."
B. REPLACEMENT OF SPLASH SHIELD AND BRAKE HOSE
1. Remove existing splash shields plastic retainer fasteners.
2. Remove incorrect splash shield and replace brake hose. (For brake hose replacement follow procedures in the 1991
GMC Sierra Model Service Manual, X-9131, Section 5A. Be certain to perform brake bleed portion of the procedure
3. Install new splash shields by lining up hole patterns and pushing in existing retainers.
4. Install "Campaign Identification Label."
PARTS INFORMATION
Parts are to be obtained from General Motors Service Parts Operation (GMSPO). To ensure that these parts will be obtained as soon as possible, they should be ordered from GMSPO on a C.I.O. order with no special instruction code but order under an advise code (2).
IT IS EXPECTED THAT APPROXIMATELY 5 PERCENT OF THE INVOLVED SHIELDS MAY BE INCORRECT.

* For dealer to receive Aministrative Time Allowance associated with this campaign, add 0.1 hour to the Labor Operation Time Allowance.
CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION LABEL
Each vehicle corrected in accordance with the instructions outlined in this product campaign bulletin will require a "Campaign Identification Label." Each label provides a space to include the campaign number and five (5) digit dealer code of the dealer performing the campaign service. This information may be inserted with a typewriter or ball point pen.
Each "Campaign Identification Label" is to be located on the radiator core support in an area which will be visible when the vehicle is brought in for periodic servicing by the owner.
Apply "Campaign Identification Label" only on a clean, dry surface.
