CCOT/VDOT System Differences

CCOT/VDOT DIFFERENCES

PRESSURE CYCLING SWITCH
The VDOT A/C systems use the constant run V-5 compressor. These systems DO NOT CYCLE. The pressure cycling switch is not used with the VDOT AC systems because the compressor can vary its displacement to match the air conditioning demand under all conditions. The pressure cycling switch is still used with all CCOT type systems.

If replacement of the pressure cycling switch is necessary, it is important to note that this may be done without removing the refrigerant charge. A Schrader-type valve is located in the pressure switch fitting. During replacement of the pressure switch, a new "0" ring must be installed. The switch should be assembled to the specified torque of 10 Nm (89 in. lb.).

LOW PRESSURE CUT-OUT SWITCH
Because the pressure cycling switch is not used with the V-5 compressor, a low pressure cut-out switch is used to protect the compressor from a low charge condition. The low pressure cut-out switch is also used to shut the compressor off in cold weather.
