V-5 Preliminary Checks ( Step 1 )

V-5 SYSTEM AIR CONDITIONING DIAGNOSIS INSUFFICIENT COOLING

STEP 1-PRELIMINARY CHECKS

Repair the following as necessary. If outlet air temperature with A/C on is normal after making the following repairs, the system is operating normally. If the following repairs do not cause the system to operate normally, continue diagnosis using the V-5 Diagnostic Charts. V-5 Diagnostic Charts ( Steps 2-7 )


- A/C fuse


- Clutch coil or rear head switch connections


- Temperature valve. Move temperature valve lever rapidly from cold to hot. Listen for temperature valve hitting at each end. Adjust as necessary.


- A/C blower operation.


- Compressor belt. Check condition and tension of belt. Replace as necessary.


- Engine cooling fan operation. Refer to service manual for diagnosis.


- Condenser Check for restricted airflow through condenser.


- Compressor clutch operation and condition (overheated or discolored)


- Clutch driver (freewheeling)
