BASE HEATER
The base heater system provides heating, ventilation and defogging. In the heater mode, ambient air enters the heater-blower air inlet assembly and is directed through the heater core into the passenger compartment through the heater outlet (see accompanying figures).

VENTS
Two outboard vents located in the side panels provide ram air ventilation. A push-pull control opens and closes each vent. When either valve is opened, air enters the passenger compartment from the pressurized plenum.

DEFOGGER MODE
In the defogger mode, tempered air as determined by the position of the temperature lever, is channeled to the upper defogger outlets with a small percentage (20 per cent) delivered to the floor outlets.

The heater system controls the vent, heat and defogger provisions. The system has a blower air inlet and a heater defogger. Two snap-in cables, attached to the heater assembly and control levers, control the operation of the functional assemblies.

TEMPERATURE CABLE
The temperature cable has a slider-type adjustment feature. As the temperature lever is cycled through its travel, the cable clip assumes a position assuring that the temperature valve will seat in both positions. The mode lever cable also has a self adjust feature. Blower speeds (off to high) are controllable in all modes by the switch on the control head.

SELECTOR VARIATION
Varying the selector between Heat and Defogger will allow more or less air to be directed out either the defogger outlet or the heater outlet. The closer the mode selector is positioned to "Heater" position, the larger the amount of air coming out the heater outlet. The close the mode selector is positioned to Defogger, the larger the amount of air going to the windshield. The temperature of this air is governed by the temperature lever position.
