ADJUSTMENT
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Loosen screw (233).
3. Put the column selector lever in the "N" (Neutral) position; do NOT use the indicator to find the neutral position.
4. Put the transmission in neutral. Move the transmission shift lever to the forward position, then back to the second detent.
5. Hold the rod (241) tightly in the swivel (226) and tighten screw (233) to 28 Nm (26 lb ft).
6. Put the column selector lever in the "P" (Park) position.
7. Check the adjustment.
a. The column selector lever must go into all positions.
b. The engine must start in the "P" (Park) or "N" (Neutral) positions only. If needed, adjust the "Neutral Start Switch".

WARNING: With the selector lever in the "Park" position, the parking pawl should freely engage within the rear (reaction) internal gear lugs or output ring gear lugs and prevent the vehicle from rolling, which could cause personal Injury.

8. Align the indicator (if needed).
