Engine: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Hood.
3. Upper radiator hose at the radiator.
4. Drain the cooling system.
5. Overflow hose.
6. Upper fan shroud.
7. Radiator.
8. Fan.
9. Heater hoses.
10. Air cleaner.
11. Vacuum hoses.
12. All necessary wires at the bulkhead, ground wires, and main teed wires.
13. Throttle cable and cruise control cable (if equipped).
14. Distributor cap.
15. Raise the vehicle. Support with suitable safety stands.
16. Converter to exhaust pipe bolts.
17. Exhaust pipes at the manifolds.
18. Strut rods at the bell housing.
19. Flywheel cover bolts and flywheel cover (if equipped).
18. Shield at rear of catalytic converter.
19. Converter hanger at exhaust pipe.
20. Lower fan shroud.
21. Fuel lines and hoses.
22. Two outer air dam bolts.
23. Left body mount bolts.
24. Install jackstands.
25. Raise the body.
26. Flywheel housing bolts.
27. Lower the body.
28. Motor mount through bolts.
29. Jackstands.
30. Lower the vehicle.
31. Air conditioning compressor (if equipped).
32. Power steering pump (if equipped).
33. Engine.
34. Support the transmission with a floor jack.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Engine into the vehicle.
2. Remove the transmission support.
3. Raise the vehicle. Support with suitable safety stands.
4. Motor mount through bolts.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 114 Nm (85 ft. lb.)
5. Lower flywheel housing bolts.
6. Raise the body.
7. Upper flywheel housing bolts.
8. Lower the body.
9. Remaining flywheel housing bolts.
10. Body mount bolts.
11. Power steering pump (if equipped).
Tighten
^ Bracket bolts to 49 Nm (36 ft. lb.)
12. Air conditioning compressor (if equipped).
13. Two outer air dam bolts.
14. Fuel lines and hoses.
15. Lower fan shroud.
16. Converter hanger at exhaust pipe.
17. Shield at rear of catalytic converter.
18. Flywheel cover and bolts (if equipped).
19. Strut rods at the bell housing.
20. Exhaust pipes to the manifolds.
21. Converter to exhaust pipe bolts.
22. Distributor cap.
23. Lower the vehicle.
24. Throttle cable and cruise control cable (if equipped).
25. All necessary wires at the bulkhead, ground wires, and main feed wires.
26. Vacuum hoses.
27. Air cleaner.
28. Heater hoses.
29. Fan.
30. Radiator.
31. Upper fan shroud.
32. Overflow hose.
33. Upper radiator hose at the radiator.
34. Coolant into the cooling system.
35. Hood.
36. Negative battery cable.
