Install or Connect

CAUTION: When fasteners are removed, always reinstall them at the same location from which they were removed. If a fastener needs to be replaced, use the correct part number fastener for that application. If the correct part number fastener is not available, a fastener of equal size and strength (or stronger) may be used. The correct torque value must be used when installing fasteners that require it. If the above conditions are not met, parts or system damage could result.

1. Place engine/transmission assembly into vehicle.

CAUTION: When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under the oil pan, crankshaft pulley, or any sheet metal. Due to the small clearance between the oil pan and the oil pump screen, jacking against the oil pan may cause it to be bent against the pump screen, resulting in a damaged 011 pickup unit.

2. Support the engine with a suitable jack.

3. Install engine mounting frame brackets.

A. Raise the engine slightly and position the brackets against the engine mountings.

B. Install the through-bolts finger tight.

C. Lower the engine.

D. Install the mounting bracket to frame bolts and nuts.
Tighten nuts (A) to: 41n.m (30 ft. lbs.).
Tighten bolts (B) to: 54n.m (40 ft. lbs.).
Tighten bolts (F) to: 41n.m (30 ft. lbs.).
Tighten nuts (I) to: 68n.m (50 ft. lbs.).
Tighten bolts (K) to: 100n.m (75 ft. lbs.).

4. Remove the jack.

5. Install rear engine mounting bolts.
Tighten bolts (B) to: 47n.m (35 ft. lbs.).
Tighten nuts (E) to: 61n.m (45 ft. lbs.).

6. Connect fuel and vapor return lines.

7. Connect transmission shift linkage and vehicle speed sensor connector.
