DTC 82

DTC 82 1-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Fault:

1-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit:

Circuit Description:
The PCM continually monitors each circuit connected to the "quad-driver" for either low or high voltage on the commanded state of the device connected. DTC 82 will set if there is a fault detected on the 1-2 solenoid circuit. If 1-2 shift solenoid is commanded "ON" by the PCM and voltage on the circuit should drop as the solenoid grounds. If DTC 82 sets, the transmission will only allow, second and third gear or first and fourth gear only.
If voltage remains high for 2 seconds after 1-2 shift solenoid is commanded DTC 82 will set. If 1-2 shift solenoid is "OFF" and voltage on the circuit should be high, if voltage drops for 2 seconds DTC 82 will set.

Test Description:
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.

1 This test checks 1-2 shift solenoid and the internal transmission wiring harness for shorts.
2. This test checks for power to 1-2 shift solenoid from the ignition through the fuse.
3. This test checks CKT 1222 for a short to ground.
4. This test checks the PCM ability to ground or control 1-2 shift solenoid.

Diagnostic Aids:
Check all connections at the transmission pass-thru connector.
