Seat Belts - Front Belt Length Too Short
Group Ref.: BodyBulletin No.: 361011
Date: October, 1993
SUBJECT:
FRONT SEAT BELT LENGTH TOO SHORT (REPLACE SEAT BELTS)
MODELS:
1992-93 MIL VANS EXCEPT RPO YF7 (CONVERSION VAN) OR VANS SOLD AS INCOMPLETE VEHICLES
CONDITION:
Some owners may comment that their seat belt is not long enough.
CAUSE:
In 1992 and 1993 the seat belt was shortened to 118 inches on both the passenger and driver's side.
CORRECTION:
In May of 1993 longer seat belts were released on production vehicles. The belt length was increased by 10 inches (to 128 inches) on the driver's side and 6 inches (to 124 inches) on the passenger side. Vehicles built after the following VIN breakpoints will have the longer seat belt in production:
Division VIN
GMC PB533616
Chevrolet PB183571
In the event of a customer concern, the longer belts can be used to retrofit 1992-93 vehicles.
Important:
This change does not apply to those vehicles ordered as a YF7 option (conversion van) or to vans sold as Incomplete vehicles, due to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS 208 Barrier Tests).
