A/C - Whistle Noise at High Blower Motor Speeds

SUBJECT:
HVAC WHISTLE NOISE USUALLY AT HIGH BLOWER MOTOR SPEEDS
(SEAL BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR)
MODELS:
1994 CHEVROLET AND GMC C/K TRUCKS AND 5H, 6H, AND 7H TOPKICK/KODIAK MODELS
CONDITION:
Some vehicles may exhibit a whistle noise usually at higher blower motor speeds.
CAUSE:
Air is leaking from the HVAC module around the blower motor resistor.
CORRECTION:
Remove the blower motor resistor located at the top of the HVAC module just behind the glove box liner (figure 1). Apply RTV sealer (P/N 12345739 or equivalent) around the mating surfaces of the resistor and module and install the resistor.
NOTE:
Please take care not to allow any sealer to reach the resistor coils that become very hot while in use.
