Oil Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT






1. Oil pan.
2. Oil pump to rear main bearing cap bolt.






3. Oil pump and extension shaft.
4. Extension shaft and retainer, being careful not to crack the retainer.
5. Inspect oil pump pickup tube for looseness.

Notice: If the tube is loose, replace the oil pump. A loose pickup tube can result In an air leak and loss of oil pressure.

INSTALL ORCONNECT

1. Heat the retainer in hot water prior to assembly the extension shaft.
2. Extension shaft to the oil pump.

Important: Make sure the retainer does not crack installing.

3. Oil pump to the rear bearing cap and bolt.
4. Tighten: Oil pump bolt to 44 N.m. (32 lbs. ft.).
5. Oil pan.
