Fig. 9 Lower Control Arm Replacement:






1. Raise vehicle and support with suitable jack stands. Jack stands must be positioned between coil spring seat and ball joint of lower control arm to obtain maximum leverage against coil spring pressure.
2. Remove front wheel, then loosen splash shield bolts and pivot splash shield to allow access to tie rod.
3. Remove stabilizer bar.
4. Remove shock absorber, inner tie rod and axle shaft nut from hub assembly.
5. Remove drive axle.
6. Remove adjusting arm by sliding torsion bar forward, Fig. 9.
7. Remove lower ball joint.
8. Remove control arm and torsion bar as a unit.
9. Separate control arm from torsion bar.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
