Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair

1. Remove hood latch, then disconnect hood release cable from latch.
2. Push hood release cable through grommet into passenger compartment.
3. Remove nuts from bottom of bulkhead connector, then disconnect connectors.
4. Remove fuse panel cover and screws, then remove fuse panel and position aside.
5. Remove bulkhead connector as follows:
a. From inside vehicle, hold both nuts of bulkhead connector with wrench.
b. Have helper remove bolts from connector in engine compartment.
c. Push bulkhead connector through cowl into cab until no slack is left in engine harness.

6. Remove steering column filler, Fig. 1.
7. Remove steering column nuts, then lower steering column.
8. Disconnect PRNDL clip from steering column.
9. Disconnect electrical connectors from steering column.
10. Remove convenience center and bracket screws, then lift convenience center away from pad.
11. Disconnect parking brake cable from parking brake pedal.
12. Remove left lower trim pad bolts.

13. Disconnect instrument panel lower extension, then lower extension from engine cover and disconnect electrical connectors, Fig. 2.

14. Remove instrument cluster trim panel, then disconnect two wiring connectors on back left side, Fig. 3.
15. Remove screws securing heater-A/C control to instrument cluster housing.
16. Disconnect vacuum lines, electrical connectors, cable and lamp from heater-A/C control.
17. Remove alarm and bracket from left side of dash panel.
18. Remove instrument cluster screws and move cluster forward.
19. Disconnect speed sensor and speedometer cable from cluster.

20. Remove accessory trim panel from center of trim panel, Fig. 4.
21. Remove radio screws and move radio to enable removal of electrical connections.
22. Remove right and left speaker bezels by prying upward, then remove speakers.
23. Remove defroster duct grilles from top of dash panel.

24. Remove right lower filler panel, Fig. 5.

25. Remove dash panel screws, Fig. 6, then pull dash panel forward slightly.
26. Push all electrical connectors to back of dash panel.
27. Pull dash panel forward.
28. Disconnect defroster hoses from outlets and remove A/C ducts from dashpanel.
29. Remove left and right speaker frames and antenna wire.
30. Remove dash panel lower extension cables, parking brake cable and handle, then hood release cable and handle.
31. Drill out dash panel support bracket rivets, then remove dash panel.
32. Reverse procedure to install.
