Fuel Tank Assembly
Fuel Tank Assembly:
REMOVAL:
1. Disconnect negative battery cable (ensure ignition is "OFF").
2. Remove fuel from tank.
3. Raise vehicle.
4. Remove clamps from filler neck hose and vent line.
5. Support fuel tank and remove fuel tank retaining straps.
6. Disconnect fuel sender wires, hoses, and ground strap. Lower fuel tank to gain access.
7. Remove fuel tank from vehicle.
8. Remove fuel pump/sending unit from tank. Refer to FUEL PUMP/FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT.
9. Purge fuel tank, if being repaired. Refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL TANK PURGING.
INSTALLATION:
1. Install fuel sender and pump assembly into fuel tank.
2. Install fuel tank into vehicle.
3. Connect sending unit wires, hoses, and ground straps.
4. Install fuel tank retaining straps with insulator straps in place.
5. Install clamps to filler neck hose and vent lines.
6. Install bolts and nuts.
7. Install fuel and fuel tank filler cap.
8. Connect negative battery cable.
NOTE: If a memory retention device was not used, reset (to the extent possible) all devices that lost memory after battery was disconnected).
9. Check for leaks before and after ignition is switched "ON".
