Fig 4. A/C System Performance Test Specifications:
1. Park vehicle inside or in shaded area, then open doors or windows to ventilate interior.
2. Vent engine exhaust, if necessary.
3. Open hood and install high and low side pressure gages. Route lines over rear hood seal, then tape gages to windshield for viewing.
4. Close hood, then record ambient temperature and relative humidity.
5. Close doors and windows.
6. Turn A/C On (normal mode), temperature control in Cold position and the blower switch in Hi position.
7. Open A/C outlets.
8. Install four jack-dual range temperature tester tool No. J-21213-A or equivalent into right center air conditioning outlet.
9. Place transmission in Park or Neutral.
10. Start engine and run at 2000 RPM.
11. Run A/C system until outlet air reaches lowest temperature.
12. After three minutes record outlet air temperature and high side and low side pressures.
13. Turn engine Off and compare readings. Normally operating A/C systems should not exceed levels shown, Figs. 3 and 4.
